You can’t keep messing me around like this. It’s been going on too long. I can’t take it anymore. I get sick every time you come around. Then I get sick when you leave. You’re like a disease to me.
– May from Fool for Love by Sam Shepard
Clockwork Theatre recently produced their inaugural theatre production, Fool for Love by Sam Shepard. Directed by Becky MacDorman, the play explores the harrowing narrative of how a reckless man tries to convince his occasional lover to abandon her dreary desert motel room and run away with him. The two fools become lost in a vicious cycle of love and hate, struggling to know right from wrong within the confines of their forbidden romance. The production ran from May 12th through 16th, 2015 at the Havana Theatre and featured a powerhouse ensemble including Joel Butler, Kaitlin Williams, Patrick Dodd and Steve James.
CJ McGillivray enjoyed supporting the story through her country inspired, foot stompin’ sound design. The creative team included fight choreography by Sylvie La Riviere, costume design by Rachel Zmak; and set design and lighting design by Phil Miguel. The production was stage managed by Tanya Schwaerzle with Becky Fitzpatrick as the assistant stage manager.
