In February 2014, CJ McGillivray had the pleasure of working on a dramatic short film with emerging director Kevin Yang in association with aFocus Entertainment and Motion Picture Arts at Capilano University. Phoebe and Bianca Sitting in a Tree is a heartfelt dramatic comedy about two young women who fall madly in love but are ultimately ripped apart over their differences in sexual identity. CJ was both honoured and challenged in the role of Bianca alongside Jessica Lee as her girlfriend Phoebe. Both characters explore the moral ambiguity of love and rejection over issues of sexual identity. The short film premiered at the Capilano University Queer Film Festival on April 3rd, 2014 and director Kevin Yang was later honoured with an Award of Excellence at the Canada International Film Festival.
