My life were better ended by their hate, than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.
– Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
In March 2014, the Capilano University Cinematography department presented a contemporary twist on the iconic love story of Romeo and Juliet. On the heels of her first collaboration with emerging director Kevin Yang, CJ McGillivray was thrilled to take on the traditionally male role of Romeo Montague alongside Jessica Lee as her innocent lover, Juliet Capulet. The lovers were portrayed in contemporary attire as young adventurers lost in the throes of an intoxicating but fragile romance. The film was an exciting opportunity to explore the work of William Shakespeare within a highly contemporary and gender blind scenario.
